Turkeys for Blythedale Children's Hospital

In the spirit of thanks and giving, the CC girls created turkey centerpieces and other decorations for Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla, NY. The hospital will use these items to beautify their Thanksgiving feast room. Our girls used much consideration and detail as they created their centerpieces. The fact that they were actively giving to fellow children deeply resonated with the students. Here are some photos of the Blythedale Children's Hospital's Thanksgiving feast decorations:

Sculptures!

During the first week of November, the CC girls learned about famous sculptors, such as Alexander Calder and Deborah Butterfield. They then created their own sculptures and mobiles. The children each named their sculptures, which were put on display in our classrooms for 2 weeks. Look at some pictures of the great sculptures below!

Halloween Happiness!

This week, our CC girls participated in a variety of Halloween-themed activities. They decorated our rooms with chains, pumpkin paintings, and model haunted houses, as well as created and performed Halloween puppet shows. They also designed masks, molded clay pumpkins, and discovered whether different items sink or float. Throughout the month of October, the girls have read books on Halloween, as well as those celebrating individuals of Latino heritage.

Today, all of our focus on Halloween culminated in a fun and exciting Halloween celebration! The girls played spooky games, which were designed by Group IV, at the main campus. They also went trick-or-treating and visited various GA departments. At each stop, the girls sang a song to their hosts who subsequently gave each child some candy. Afterward, our super-energetic students went back to Ridgeview for our CC Halloween festivities! No doubt, all of our girls experienced a nice, long sugar crash when they got home! We had so much fun~ Check out our adorable girls in their awesome costumes!

Parents were given the opportunity to ask teachers questions about the CC program. The teachers then provided a more thorough description of the students' daily lives in CC with a slide show presentation. Below, you will find our slide show that displays photographs of our girls enjoying a day in CC!
